Class Description:
A national expert takes an engaging, informative look at the data from the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland’s upcoming Comprehensive Census and Demographic Needs Assessment Study of the Vancouver-Portland area’s Jewish population. This lecture will put our community in regional and national context, and illuminate our own unique challenges and prospects for the future.

Dr. Bruce Phillips is Professor of Jewish Communal Service at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles , and one of the leading sociologists and demographic analysts of American Jewry. He has conducted local demographic studies in Los Angeles , Phoenix , Denver , Milwaukee , Houston , Las Vegas , Chicago , Seattle , and San Francisco , and he has served as an advisor to the 1990 and 2000 National Jewish Population Studies.
