Class Description:
On Wednesday, January 13, at 7:00 pm in the Schnitzer Family Center, join us for a presentation by Ron Silver, Chief of Civil Division at U.S. Attorney's Office, with Jake Tanzer, former Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court, as part of the Temple's celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend.

Ron will talk about the Schwerners' commitment to Civil Rights that led them to Meridian, Mississippi, in January 1964. Ron will tell the story of Michael Schwerner's murder along with James Chaney and Andrew Goodman at the hands of the Klan in June 1964 and describe Rita Schwerner's continued efforts to seek justice and equal rights for all Americans.

Ron will be joined by Jake Tanzer, currently a professional legal mediator and arbitrator who was a Criminal Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice when he went to Mississippi in 1964 to work on the murder of the three civil rights workers.
