Class Description:
“A good Jew is not one who looks out for another person’s soul and his own stomach, but rather the other person’s stomach and his own soul” - Rabbi Yisrael Salanter (1810-1883), founder of the Mussar Movement

Join Rabbi Michael Cahana for a look into the history and application of the Mussar movement and how it can bring more meaning to our lives. Since the 19th Century, Mussar has been a process of learning about and improving our ethical being through Jewish texts. Although many of the yeshivot that taught this technique were wiped out in the Holocaust, a recent revival of interest is bringing Mussar ideas into the mainstream.
