12/07/2008 - 9:45am to 12/07/2008 - 12:00pm

Location:
Kol Shalom
Mittleman Jewish Community Center
6651 SW Capitol Hwy

Class Description:
Rabbi Joshua Stampfer is a regular presenter at Kol Shalom Sunday Forums. “Israeli voters are expected to choose a new government in February. Mr. Olmert’s designated heir, Tzipi Livni, the foreign minister, failed to put together a coalition government for the right reasons: She refused the ultra-Orthodox Shas Party’s demand that there would be no negotiations on the status of Jerusalem.” (NY Times editorial, 11/5/08). So these questions are currently and dramatically relevant: Should the state of Israel be the fulfillment of religious dreams? Should Israel be a secular state? These are just some of the topics to be addressed at the event.
