Judaic Studies at Portland State University present



The Second Annual Happy Hour with Sholom Aleichem:

A Story telling and Klezmer Rocking celebration of Sholom Aleichem’s Yahrzeit

Nearly 100 years after his death in 1916, people still come together to remember and celebrate the man
whose stories so enchanted so many that 100,000 mourners attended his funeral.



Sholom Aleichem’s last directive was “Let my name be recalled with laughter or not at all”.
We will raise our glasses to toast Sholom Aleichem and festivities will include a diverse palate of stories,
happy hour nosh and the wonderful klezmer music of Courtney Von Drehle of Three Legged
Torso and Ed Kraus of KBOO’s Yiddish Hour, among others.
