Class Description:
Morris Engelson, a Portland scientist and author who is a child survivor of the Holocaust, will discuss “The Story of My Survival” during a special Tisha b’Av program at Congregation Kesser Israel, 6698 SW Capitol Hwy., Thursday, July 30, 10 a.m. Engelson, born in Lithuania, will recount his family history and early life in a pre-WWII European shtetl, and the incredible story of his journey through the Shoah. His presentation also includes reflections on the Holocaust, Tisha B’Av, the “Final Solution” and the Einsatzgruppen. Articles of the time – such as an original yellow star and ghetto money – will be displayed. The program is free.
